Amboy Crater - Hiking a Volcano - Prepare for Natural Disasters

I’m driving down the I-40 and I went off the trail sort of speak. I’m now driving on route 66 toward Amboy. I pull into the gas station and an old man comes out and he insist on pumping the gas. I pay 5.45 a gallon because I’m in the middle of nowhere. This is part of #Vanlife Travel. There is a railroad running thru this ghost town. I take a picture of Roy’s Motel Cafe‘ which was built in 1938. Some motion pictures have been filmed here and a commercial for Qwest Communications.

Even Huell Howser visited Amboy, it is episode 410 of California Gold.

My visit included a hike to Amboy Crater. This hike is a 3-to-5-mile hike in the direct hot sun. Always bring plenty of water. Below are some items I recommend for hiking this volcano.
