I’m in Death Valley at the Golden Canyon Trail Head. Ready set go. When you reach the trailhead and look back, you will see a sweeping view of Death Valley. The contrast is you are entering a canyon with many interesting rock features. The walk/hike is a slight incline 1 mile up you will reach a fork, if you head left you can reach Red Cathedral. It is another half mile. If you head right you begin Gower Gulch Loop which in full is 4.3 miles.
Now if you continue on the Gower Gulch Loop you will reach the Badlands Loop. If you head right you continue to finish the Gower Gulch Loop. However, if you go left it is the beginning of the Badlands Loop. You may finish the Badlands Loop which will meet up with the Gower Gulch Loop and finish. It simply is the long way around.
While on the Badlands Loop you will see Zabriskie Point.
