The Badwater Basin is located in Death Valley. It is the lowest spot in North America. Travel Safely.
Hi, This is my first visit to Badwater in Death Valley. This visit is different from my second post about the salt flats in Death Valley. It is a lot dryer and hotter this day. I didn’t make it all the way out. Please watch this video and my second video which show the hexagon shapes in the salt. It is still a beautiful day. I have added some photos.
If you do this hike, please bring plenty of water.
Badwater is the lowest point in North America at a depth of 282 ft. (86 m) below sea level. The beginning of the Trailhead next to the road is a pool does have animal and plant life.
Interestingly, repeated freeze and thaw and evaporation cycles gradually push the salt crust into hexagonal shapes. I show this in the second video.
Besides a mask, I was using this hat which covers all of my head. Helps keep the sand out in the desert.
